I Chronicles 29:11 "Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty:for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all."

We Dared to Dream...

...that we could possibly go to Greece on our way back to the States this year. It was an irrational thought at first, but then became a deep-seated desire. See, the Prince has lots of family there (I mean LOTS) and we have never met. I mean, the Prince has obviously met them, but not the girlies and me. I have wanted to get to know them, and to share God's love through Jesus with them.

So we started praying. And thinking. And wishing. And hoping...

All the while, letting this become, what we thought, would be the definite plan for our journey home. I mean, when you get excited about something and talk about it a lot, it just seems like it's reality, ya know?

And then we checked ticket prices.

Can you say 'Ouch'?

They were unbelievably, ridiculously, gratuitously expensive. Like over three grand per person! So, our dreams choked, shriveled up, and died. We did have a hold out though. One small glimmer of hope in what was surely to be a lost cause. A friend we know works (somehow) with ticket agents and gets good deals for missionaries. So we sent her an email asking for an idea of what she could find.

So we waited.

And hoped. And wished...blah blah blah...

In the meantime we searched for ticket prices from here straight home. Because that was what it looked like was going to happen. And that was *gasp* practical. We found terrific prices, and were very thankful. It was so nice not to worry over paying an exorbitant amount.

And then our friend got back to us.

She found prices that include Greece for less than prices we found straight home! Wow! I mean, we had totally let go of the idea of a stop over in Greece, and then God surprised us and gave us even cheaper tickets including our original dream!

Is there anything too hard for God? No. Did He have to let us go to Greece on the way home? No. But sometimes I think He just delights in giving His children gifts and surprises. Because He loves us, and because He can.

I will commence the Happy Dance.

The End.

Oh, goodness! That is so cool! I am so excited for you and will do the happy dance right along side, figuratively speaking of course!

God is SO good, isn't He? :)

    First, congratulations!
Second, you're going on a furlough? So are we!!! We are just going to have to cross paths at some point.

We've been racking up airline miles with our credit card. Airline prices are outrageous.
We live as far away from the US as you can without leaving the continent!

    Noice, very noice.

  • Great-Granny Grandma

That is awesome! Isn't it amazing what the Lord can do? I love it.

  • Giovanna

    That's just like God huh?
I hope that you have a better time in Greece than my friend just did. She has family in Greece as well and just came back from there for Christmas. She was extremely disappointed this year, stating that it was much more run down, dirty, and a mess now. I will be praying that your trip is nicer than hers was! : )

  • JulieMom

It's pretty awesome. :0) Thanks for all the well wishes!

  • JulieMom

Oh, and Giovanna, the Prince said if she was there in winter, it's always dirty because it rains constantly...maybe that was why? At least I hope so!
